August Now Connects Directly to Your Google Drive

Lawyers don't keep all their documents in one place. Between local drives, cloud storage, email attachments, and document management systems, the reality is that files end up scattered. That's a problem when you need an AI assistant that can actually work with your full set of documents.

Today, we're launching Google Drive as a native integration in August. Here's what that means in practice.

We've built a native Google Drive connection that lets you pull documents, spreadsheets, and other files directly from Drive into your August workspace without ever leaving the app. If your team already lives in Google Drive, this makes it simple to bring your existing workflows into August.

There are three new ways to get your files in.

AI-Powered Search & Import

When you toggle Google Drive on an August assistant, it gains the ability to search across your entire drive mid-conversation using natural language. Ask something like "find my latest depositions" and August will search your drive, surface matching files, and import specific documents for deeper analysis.

No more downloading files, re-uploading them, or switching between tabs. The documents come to you.

Drag & Drop from Google Drive

Sometimes you don't want August searching on its own. You want to hand-select the exact files it should work with. The new file picker sidebar lets you browse your Google Drive and drop files directly into any chat. You stay in control of what August sees.

Bulk Import

This isn't just a chat-level feature. The Google Drive integration works directly inside your existing August folders. Need to pull in a batch of contracts, reports, or closing documents? Select multiple files from Drive and import them all at once into your personal or project folders.

This is especially useful for onboarding a new matter. Instead of dragging files in one at a time, you can set up a project folder with everything you need in a single pass.

The best AI assistant is one that can see what you're actually working with. Google Drive is where a huge number of legal teams already store and share documents. By connecting August directly to Drive, we've removed one of the biggest friction points: getting your documents into the platform in the first place.
