August was founded by Rutvik, Thomas, and Joe, who first met at a Columbia University research lab. Between them, they'd worked across law, finance, and technology and kept running into the same problem. Professional services firms were being handed generic AI built for someone else's workflow. Solutions that ignored the precedent firms had spent years building, the standards they'd developed deal by deal, and the way their people actually worked.

Their mission became clear: build AI that mirrors each firm's unique expertise, so firms can take on more work, serve clients better, and run like the businesses they are.

Throughout 2025, we've expanded from our initial U.S. client base to partner with firms globally—including Canada, Australia, Africa, and India—driven by the belief that every firm deserves technology aligned with their distinct practice.
