August already gives lawyers access to a full set of tools across the platform: research, drafting, tabular review, email in Outlook, editing in Word. Until now, it was up to you to decide which tools to use and in what order. Agent Mode flips that. You describe what you need, and August figures out the rest.
What Is Agent Mode?
Agent Mode lets you give August a single instruction and have the platform autonomously decide which tools to use, in what sequence, and how to combine their outputs into a polished final product.
Instead of toggling between drafting, tabular review, and research manually, you just tell August what you're trying to accomplish. The platform spins up a planning agent that maps out the right approach, then runs an execution loop that calls each tool, checks the results, and refines until the output meets your standard.
How It Works in Practice
Say you have a stack of lease agreements and need a diligence report. Before Agent Mode, you'd open tabular review to structure and extract the key terms, then switch to the drafting tool to write the memo, then maybe move to Outlook to send it to your team.
With Agent Mode, you type: "Draft me a diligence report on these documents." August takes it from there. It creates a tabular review to synthesize the information, drafts the memo, and delivers the finished product. If you then want to send it to your boss, you can prompt August to turn it into an Outlook email, and it knows to use the email tools to do exactly that.
The whole workflow happens in one continuous thread. No switching between tools, no rebuilding context at each step.
Why This Matters
Legal work is full of multi-step processes where each step depends on the last. The tedious part isn't usually any single task. It's the coordination: remembering which tool to open, copying information between them, and keeping track of where you are in the process.
